Our firm is looking for the next great criminal defense lawyer to join our team. We don’t care if you’re a recent law grad or 10+ years into your career. If you’re driven, talented, and committed to excellence, we want you.


Here’s what working for
us looks like:

  • You will have your own cases—doing real work—right away. This includes attending hearings, writing and arguing pretrial motions, and if needed, trying cases to verdict. We’ll be there to assist and mentor you, of course, but you’ll be the attorney of record on Day 1.

  • You will be the primary point of contact with all your clients in all your cases. This includes traveling to see them in jails across the region. We’ll pay travel expenses, but we expect you to manage your workload to maintain a good rapport with everyone you represent.

  • You will be working on both state and federal cases, in both Minnesota and North Dakota. Ideally, you’ll be licensed in all four courts, but it’s not a prerequisite for the job.

  • You may—but don’t have to—help develop our civil rights practice. It is new and growing, and our focus is primarily on suing cops and other state actors under 42 U.S.C. § 1983. So if this work interests you, you’ll be joining on the ground floor, and the sky’s the limit.

  • We are committed to your success and growth. So we’ll ride shotgun in all your work for as long as you need. At some point, though, it’s sink-or-swim. But we’ll never send you on a solo mission until you’re ready. We practice collaborative, team-based criminal defense and mean it.

  • We expect you to love criminal defense and your clients. That might sound weird, but it’s the only way you can succeed in this work. We are “dyed-in-the-wool” criminal defense lawyers and that’s the type of person we’re looking for to join our team. It’s not a must that you’re cut from this cloth, but it’s damn close. In short, government sympathizers need not apply.

Benefits:

Our benefits package is based on your experience. Meaning if you’re just out of law school, you’ll make less than if you’re lateraling to us from another firm. Interview with us and we’ll happily discuss specifics, but our mantra is the hungry dog runs best, so we set up compensation a lot like sales: the more you work, and better you do, the more you make.
