New MN Statutes: DWI Warrants, Court Funding, and Off-Duty Officers

Minnesota Lawyer recently reported on new state laws that went into effect on July 1, including “a new statute requiring a search warrant to be obtained before a DWI suspect can have blood drawn,” a statute providing for “additional funding for the courts and police training,” and “a clarified right for [off-duty] cops to enter private establishments armed.” The additional court funding will cover new judgeships and staff in Minnesota’s 7th judicial district, which includes Clay, Becker, and Otter Tail counties.
